The presence of homonymy in Quran and Hadith has been a great cause for jurisprudents to understand the religious creeds differently. That is because when there is a homonym in religious resources and there is no evidence for one of the meanings of the word, there will be a kind of ambiguity that should be removed.
Jurisprudents by appealing to some rules as the signs of real and allegorical meaning, context and so on try to solve the problem. It is wrong to say that the text has no meaning by itself and it is the reader who creates the meaning for the text.
In this research we give two examples by which the reader can find the role of homonymy in understanding the religious texts and to find the way jurisprudents deal with this matter.
