Narrativism is one of the main branches of structuralism, and Gerard Genette is considered one of the structuralist narratologists who pays special attention to the element of time in the narrative. In his theory, he considers key concepts such as narrative time, narrative order, and narrative perspective, which can help to better understand the structure and meaning of the story. The story of Dhul-Qarnayn in the Holy Quran is one of the prominent and meaningful stories mentioned in Surah Al-Kahf. This story conveys useful and effective moral and religious messages by skillfully using narrative techniques such as changing time, non-linear order of events, and choosing a point of view. The present study aims to analyze the structural dimensions of the story of Dhul-Qarnayn and explain the impact of this structure on the understanding and comprehension of Quranic messages, using Gerard Genette's theory. Therefore, first, the character of Dhul-Qarnayn is briefly examined, and then the elements of this approach in the aforementioned story are evaluated based on Genette's theory. The findings of the study suggest that this story is a literary text with narrative elements that are used to advance the Quran's transcendent goals, namely educating and guiding humans. Also, there is a non-linear order in the story of Dhul-Qarnayn, and the elements of summary and omission are among its most prominent narrative elements.
