Abstract

In a paper entitled “Semantics of Contemplation on Traditions”, the so-called writers have claimed that considering that the term “Contemplation” carries a negative meaning in ancient terminology sources and that it has been reproved in Ahl-ul-Bait’s (AS) traditions, it bears a disapproving connotation in the traditions attributed to the infallibles (AS).
They also hold this belief that those scientists, who acclaim the meaning of the “Moteammeghun” (those who contemplate) as to the sayings narrated by Imam Sajjad (AS), are quite wrong and such a perception only develops due to their negligence towards the meaning of contemplation and Hadith.
These writers address the issue of internal and external evidence of Imam Sajjad’s (AS) traditions after conceptual study of “Contemplation” and genealogical study of the term.
This paper also attempts to contribute to a better overall understanding of different aspects of the addressees and concepts in the holy Quran and the infallibles’ Seerah (AS) in dealing with the existing ideological questions on some attributes particular to God pursuing the aim of shedding light on the distinguishing features between systematic contemplation and profound thinking with superficial intellect.
