In the translation process, there are always two source-oriented and destination-oriented tendencies. Translators have sometimes emphasized the preservation of the source language and sometimes the target language in understanding the content of Quran. In the contemporary era, as well as the scientific theories developed for translation, the main distinction between these theories is the source-oriented or purpose-oriented dualism.
The methods used to translate metaphors are those that reflect the source or target axis of translation. As far as we know, there has not been any inference about the source and destination of the translator yet which related to the methods of translating the Qur'anic metaphors. Therefore, for the first time, the translation of the Qur'an in this regard is examined in this article.
Thus, we have studied the ways of translating metaphor in the translation of Abu al-Fotouh Razi, and have provided some statistics on his methods. after analyzing these methods, we have finally come to the conclusion that although he did not devise any particular method of origin or destination in translation; he still has more interest in preserving the characteristics of the source language and can therefore be regarded as a source-based translator.
