Analyzing the criteria of Hadith criticism in Imam Javad's debate with Yahya Ibn Aktham

Abstract

One of the most important actions of imams, along with the explanation of prophetic hadiths and explanation of religious rulings and teachings, was to deal with intellectual deviations and fake hadiths. The fake hadiths that were forged by the forgers of the hadith harmed the religious truths; Accordingly, each of the imams in his era faced this issue. Imam Javad also criticized and refuted fake hadiths by relying on solid religious and intellectual principles. He criticized the hadiths cited by Yahya Ibn Aktham about the virtues of the caliphs in the Majlis of Mamun in five axes. In the first axis, the Imam cited the verses of the Qur'an and showed the conflict of some of these traditions with the Qur'an; In the second axis, the imam criticized the hadiths against this standard by referring to the correct prophetic tradition; In the third axis, they criticized and refuted fake hadiths in this regard by referring to religious necessities and certainties of belief; In the fourth axis, Imam cited authentic historical reports to criticize the hadiths that are against this criterion, and in the fifth axis, in some cases, citing certainties and logical axioms that are accepted by everyone, they criticized and rejected some of these hadiths. . The present study, with descriptive and analytical method, based on the Imam's words in the debate with Yahya Ibn Aktham, extracted the criteria for criticizing fake hadiths from this conversation and while explaining and analyzing these criteria, analyzed and examined the
