A number of fake reports on the prophet’s eating forbidden meat have been documented in Sunni hadith books by some narrators and in three different wordings. The present study uses various methods of dating to show the historical and geographical contexts of such hadiths as well as the causes of their propagation. The data have been collected through library work and analyzed with a descriptive-analytical method. As the results suggest, those hadiths were most likely faked by Saeed Ibne-Zeyd and spread in Medina before the year 51 AH. He must have done it to promote his social status. Then, Abdollah Ibne-Omar modified Saeed’s hadiths and propagated them before 74 AH. Regarding the third person reported to be involved in forgery, Zeyd Ibne-Haretheh, it can just be claimed that he was not the forger. The forger, whoever, linked the already faked hadith to a historical piece of news, made a detailed report, and spread it.
